It’s been over a century since the first International Women’s Day, and since then, the day has become an annual call to action for gender parity. From marches and protests to advocacy and awareness campaigns, this day is an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements and continue fighting for gender equality across the globe.
Our team at Workafella, as an equal enabler of women, took to executing different activities virtually and on-ground across our various centres based on this year’s theme of “Women In Leadership – #ChooseToChallenge” – our idea being to celebrate and uplift our women workforce.
Our first event in the lineup of activities planned began on March 6th (Women’s Weekend), marking our first ever online edition of Namaste Workafella – A Women’s Weekend Special Edition, where we had the pleasure of hosting a candid Instagram LIVE session with woman achiever extraordinaire Dr Rohini Rau.
Dr. Rohini, a senior resident doctor, a 4-time TED fellow, and India’s former leading woman sailor, shared her incredibly inspiring story touching on a wide variety of important topics from women at work achieving their highest potential to productivity in the midst of pregnancy. The lively session also saw some interesting questions from our community on challenging gender roles and women’s portrayal in pop culture.

To celebrate our workspaces’ women, we also conceptualized an activity that allowed our community members to nominate their ‘Workspace Superwoman” and later surprise them with a fantastic poster created by our team portraying them as the larger-than-life superheroes they really are! This saw a tremendous influx of participation across every centre and served as priceless moments to capture!
Along with these customized posters, our team also distributed chocolates with empowering messages to all the women right on entering, garnering many generous smiles and appreciation for the thoughtfulness.
Along with the energizing drink, community members were also encouraged to try out the office MVP game on their phones, where each person would be allowed to nominate another colleague as an MVP and choose from among a host of personalized titles (some funny, and some serious), representing how the colleague was perceived in the office, all in good fun of course! As an added element, all office MVP’s were presented with a special gift box of Red Bulls as well.
As the Women’s Day activities ended on a culmination of some happy, humorous, some inspiring moments, it was yet another testament to our continuing efforts at Workafella to uplift, delight, and live out our motto of “We back powerful women”.
